This is Sharath Kamal’s fourth Olympic Games, having competed at the quadrennial Games for first time in 2004.
But this is going to be the very first time that Sharath Kamal would compete in two events at the Games – Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles.
Sharath Kamal won 2 historical bronze awards (Men’s Team and Mixed Doubles) from the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
The veteran paddler obtained a golden (Men’s Team), a silver (Men’s Doubles) and 2 bronze (Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles) at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
A nine-time Seniors National Champion, Sharath Kamal had been awarded the Padma Shri in 2019.
The veteran paddler finished his decade long await a name when he won the Oman Open at March 2020.
His final name before this was 2010, when Sharath ripped the Egypt Open crown.
