Lucknow: After the Brilliant Indian performances at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics recently concluded, the Uttar Pradesh government has transferred its focus to sports promotions by providing reasons, equipment and logistics to players and organizing competitions in rural areas.
The Department of Adolescent Welfare will hold zonal level competitions in rural areas from September 16-30, followed by state-level competition in October.
A government spokesman said the competition would be held for athletics, volleyball, kabaddi, wrestling, weightlifting and other sports.
“The state government also creates infrastructure for sports promotions.
At present, 21 versatile halls are being built in rural areas in various countries.
Four of these are in Mohanlagaj in Lucknow, Panchali Khurd in Meerut, Nagwan in Sonbhadra and Milkipur in Ayodhya.
