Tootherless Lok Ayankta: Governor Kerala signed controversial regulations

Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday signed the Ordinance to propose an amendment to the Law Kerala Lok Ayukta, 1999, giving Lok Ayukta’s orders who did not bind the government.
The Chairman of the Pinarayai Minister Vijayan has met the Governor for more than one hour on Sunday and explains the government’s position on this issue.
Congress criticized Khan’s decision and accused the agreement between CPM and BJP.
The Senior LDF partner CPI also expressed displeasure on procedures while the assembly session was scheduled immediately.
The State President of BJP K Surendran said the government would force his path to the regulation but the governor had to hold back not to sign it.
CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran ruled out any changes in the establishment of his party on the amendment and said there was no discussion held at the LDF on it.
“We are still opposing amendments.
The governor might be sure of his needs but we don’t,” he said.
Amendments will make all Lok Ayukta’s verdict under section 14 actions that are irrelevant because the government can now accept or reject it.
Each decision against Cabinet members can be rejected by the Chairperson of the Governor of the Governor can override the verdict against the minister’s chairman.

The opposition leader VD Sathean, who has written twice with regulations to the governor, said the minister’s head had confirmed that Lok Ayukta would “just bark, and not bite” before the petition opposed it was considered a party for illegal acts of government.
He said the opposition would look for legal roads about this problem.
