Top diplomats say we are committed to helping Taiwan self-defense

Taipei: The main US representative in Taiwan, Sandra Oudkirk, said on Friday that the United States was committed to helping Taiwan defend himself.
Speaking to reporters at his first press conference since assuming his post in July, he described the relationship of U.S.
with Taiwan as “rock-solid”.
“The United States has a commitment to help Taiwan provide his defense,” Oudkirk said, who headed the American Institute in Taiwan, the US Embassy with the absence of a formal diplomatic bond.
His statement came as tensions between Taiwan and China, who had not ruled out the island that was ruled democratically by force, has increased in recent weeks.
While the United States, like most countries, does not have a formal bond with the island that is claimed by China, it is the most important international supporter and the main weapons supplier.
President Joe Biden’s administration has moved to regulate the support, with Beijing’s anger.
Washington is required by the law to give Taiwan by defending himself but has long followed the “Strategic Ambiguity” policy on whether it will carry out military intervention to protect Taiwan in terms of China’s attack.
When asked whether the United States would come to Taiwan’s defense if China attacked, Oudkirk said the policy against Taiwan was clear and remained unchanged, citing several US laws that regulate his relationship with Taiwan.
The increase in Chinese military exercises recently in the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone was part of what Taipei was watched as military abuse by Beijing.
US Secretary Antony Blinken on Tuesday urged all UN member countries to support Taiwan’s “strong” participation in the UN system.
