Hyderabad: The day after the villagers protested the alleged torture of a suspect in the case of theft at the Athmakur police station in Suryapet, Sub-Inspector (SI) had been suspended.
Suryapet Senior District Police Officials said that the M lingaiiah was suspended based on the report submitted by DSP (Suryapet Division) to SP Rajendra Prasad.
Probe against Constable Mahesh to also allegedly hit the suspect, Dharawath Veerasekhar (25), was waiting.
“In a preliminary oral investigation, it was found that the suspect Veerasekhar was beaten.
But a medical report to ascertain whether he suffered an awaited injury,” said the district police.

Veerasekhar, a tribe, was called to the police station on Wednesday night by the Athmakur police station as a suspect in the investigation was theft of a motorcycle pump from farmers’ fields.
The police had previously taken two other people in detention and then learned that Veeraskehar also with the duo.
Veerasekhar was allowed to go around 12am on the condition that he would return on Thursday morning.
He was handed over to his relatives who later found that he became unconscious.
The villagers accused him of being tortured and protested on Thursday.
“One police officer took me away and I was beaten on my feet and hand with a belt.
Three police officers were involved,” Veerasekhar previously told the media.
A few days ago, the Telangana High Court, hearing the case of suspicion of police from a woman, Mariamma, who was found dead at the Addaguduru police station a few months ago, said that it was considering ordering the CBI probe into it.
Si has a history of similar behavior: suspended sub-inspectors of the Athmakur police station from Suryapet Distirtuct, allegedly has a previous history beat a farmer.
One year ago, while M Lingaiiah posted at the Nagaram police station, a farmer was called for an investigation and he was beaten.
When farmers approached senior district police officials, the subinspinger was moved and stored under the reserve vaccany (VR).
A few months later, he was posted in Athmakur, where now facing charges of beating Verasekhar after calling him to investigate as a suspect in the case of theft.
In the past too, similar incidents of the excess police were witnessed in Hyderabad and other parts of the country.
