CHENNAI: All of southern streets in Chennai and other areas mainly wore a deserted look and stores remained shut as a comprehensive lockdown started in Tamil Nadu on Monday, a day after chaos disappeared in the majority of streets because of panic buying by individuals. Aside from the law enforcement, civic body groups, food delivery representatives and sanitary employees, just a few automobiles were spotted on Chennai city streets. Police put up check points along arterial roads such as the Anna Salai to confirm whether drivers had legitimate credentials.
