Total lockdown Starts in TN; Streets wear Abandoned look

CHENNAI: All of southern streets in Chennai and other areas mainly wore a deserted look and stores remained shut as a comprehensive lockdown started in Tamil Nadu on Monday, a day after chaos disappeared in the majority of streets because of panic buying by individuals. Aside from the law enforcement, civic body groups, food delivery representatives and sanitary employees, just a few automobiles were spotted on Chennai city streets. Police put up check points along arterial roads such as the Anna Salai to confirm whether drivers had legitimate credentials. Police cautioned that those travel e-registration or without legal reasons are fined as well as their vehicles could be captured. On Sunday, Covid-19 answer teams of the authorities were observed in most neighbourhoods warning people that walkers could be penalized, and many inhabitants were awakened in their houses. In major cities such as Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, the civic bodies peeled off vegetable push carts to assist people. A total of 2,635 vehicles are plied in Chennai to furnish veggies, the human body said. Ecommerce companies like Large Basket, Sunny Bee, Reliance, Pazhamudir and many others could send from 8am to 6pm, the Chennai Corporation Explained. Banks worked with just one third of workers.
