TPR at 48% in the district; Authorities to increase vigil

Thiruvananthapuram: The level of positivity of the Daily Covid Test (TPR) in this district jumped to 47.8% on Tuesday when the authorities called for more stringent regulatory enforcement.
A high-level meeting organized by Minister G R Anil and Antony Raju assessed the situation on Tuesday.
The authorities have notified that regulations will be strictly enforced at marriage and funeral.
Police supervision will be strengthened to keep tabs on the number of people attending weddings and funerals.
The ministers said that there would be no compromise in Vigil after an unprecedented TPR in the district.
Seven first-line care centers currently function in the district.
Crowding will not be allowed in the mall and shop, the ministers said after a high-level meeting.
About 6,911 new cases were reported in the district on Tuesday.
While around 36,250 people are currently under treatment for Covid 19 in the district.
Even while Covid clusters are formed in various institutions within urban areas, the weekly test level in rural Panchayats reaches alarming level.
As on Tuesday, there are two Panchayats in the district with weekly TPR above 60%; Poovar with 62.67% and vilavoorkal with 61.36%.
Around 94 of 150 samples in Poovar Panchayat were tested positive in a week.
Seven Panchayats have recorded weekly TPR above 50%.
These include Malayinkezhu, Vengoroor, Maranallor, Kalliyor, Kanjiamkulam, Karode and Athiyannoor.
22 local bodies in the district deal with weekly TPR between 40% and 50%.
The fact that only four local bodies have recorded weekly TPRs under 20% of district gloomy paint.
The authorities say that the pace of the spread has never happened before in Panchayats while most of the cluster formation in the institution in the city.
“We expect a similar increase for 10 days after the district is expected to record a decrease in the number of cases.
The coming week will be very important because the steps in which disease spread in the rural Panchayats is truly terrible,” said an official.
Within city limits, 21,602 samples were tested positively from 55 247 in the past week.
The corporate weekly TPR has 39%.
Some of the coastal peshayat in the district such as Karumkulam, Karode, Poovar has begun reporting cases in high amounts.
More than 40 local bodies in the district have recorded a weekly TPR above 35% which also included Trivandrum Corporation.
Daily tests in the district have increased by 34% in the past two weeks.
Within a week, active cases have jumped from 6,176 to 30,149.
Meanwhile, Kazhakootam MLA KadakamPally Surendran was tested positive on Tuesday and was treated at a global medical hospital.
His office told that all the programs had been canceled.
