Chatra: In a breakthrough in the fight against Left-wing extremism, Lawalong police on Tuesday arrested a dreaded area commander of Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TPSC) Kishun Ganhju alias Samir da.
An Insas rifle and 10 live bullets were also seized from the rebel, police said.
Superintendent of police Rishav Kumar Jha confirmed his arrest and said after getting a tip-off about Ganjhu’s presence in Partand village of Kalyanpur village, a team was constituted to nab him.
He further said, “Ganjhu is a dreaded extremist and wanted in several cases lodged in various police stations under Hazaribagh, Chatra, Ramgarh and Palamau district.
He has confessed to his involvement in many incidents and his interrogation is still on to get more details from him.
Other than the Insas rifle and the 10 bullets, we confiscated a few incriminating documents from him.” Sources said police action against the TSPC in the recent past had made many top commanders surrender or were arrested.
This has weakened the outfit in Chatra which was always its strong bastion, the sources added.
