The second arrested late on Saturday night was identified as Pooja and Jeena.
The police team has also been sent to Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to find out about other gang members who might have stolen two babies and plan to sell them to couples without children.
The driver grew suspicious after hearing a telephone conversation between one of the women in his taxes and a partner who might plan to buy a baby.
According to ACP (Crime) Preeting Sangwan, there may be at least 15 members in the gang, which is believed to be active since 2014.
“It seems to be an organized syndicate.
We trace the people involved in this racket.
Given the number of years they have been active, we hope for a number Big baby has been sold by them, “said senior officer.
Other police officers said the gang could sell more than 100 babies until now.
“We are examining complaints lost by parents over the past few years to investigate this problem,” the officer said.
Gang, the police said, mostly targeted pregnant women from a humble background who were willing to sell newborns after giving birth.
Babies will then be sold to couples who are willing.
“The accusation will attack the agreement for RS 3-4 lakh with each partner.
This involves bringing newborns from their biological mothers, traveling across the countries and delivering babies safely to the couple,” Sangwan said.
Two babies were saved from three people on Saturday, 20 days old, police said, added that they had been submitted to the Child Welfare Committee.
