New Delhi: With a gradual spread of omicron variants from Coronavirus in the national capital, the impact of the number of reduced buyers is not lost on traders because they are preparing to face the third wave of upcoming pandemics.
Twelve more people tested positive for Omicron variants in Delhi on Friday, took their numbers to 22, and officials said most of them were “fully vaccinated” and “asymptomatic”.
Sanjay Bhargava, President, Chandni Chowk Vyapar Mandal said they were “waiting and watching” for now, even when they asked the authorities to increase the presence of the police in the area.
“…
We have asked the authorities to increase the number of police personnel in the area that can enforce the Covid protocol among those who take it casually.
Most of the vendors and beggars do not follow such norms,” he told PTI.
While observing the “decrease in footfall”, he said the market association would soon send a circular to the shop owner in the area to enforce the Covid protocol.
“We will immediately ask all our traders to uphold the Covid protocol in their shops.
In the past 10 days, there is a decrease in foot legs seen in the market.
This business slowed because of the increasing cases of omicrons in the city,” Bhargava added.
Atul Bhargava, President, the Association of the Delhi National Traders said despite the risk of crowded areas and small traffic jams in Connaught Place (CP), they sent a circular to all traders.
“We have asked them to comply with the Covid protocol in stores such as cleaning, insisting on wearing masks and taking the temperature of the people who entered.
Because CP is a large and open area, it is not much problem.
And with the presence of the police, people usually follow the protocol Covid, “he said.
Health Minister Delhi Satyendar Jain on Thursday said many international travelers turned positive Covid on arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport here.
On Tuesday, he had said that the Omicron variant of Coronavirus did not spread in the community so far and the situation was under control.
Given the threat caused by the omicron variant, Delhi’s health department Friday night issued orders to direct hospitals to add human resources, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, sanitation and security staff, on contracts or through outsourcing agents that existed on empty and extra posts 25 percent of the power approved until March 31.
Traders at Sarojini Nagar, a busy market area in South Delhi, has been asked to attach social distance circles outside and follow all Covid protocols in their shops.
Ashok Randhawa, President, Association of Mini Market Traders Sarojini Nagar, said they had sent a maid shop that was asked to circle to get their second dose as soon as possible.
“Almost all of our traders were fully vaccinated, those who were not asked to do it as soon as possible.
We have notified everyone to follow Covid norms in the shops,” Randhawa told PTI.
Although the crowd has dropped 20-25 percent in the area, he added that people rushed to shop their current shopping for the next wedding season if another locking was announced.
“Most buyers are those who want to finish their shopping now.
We also worry about us about other locking because we just started to take a business,” he said.
The official added that the association also asked the authorities to increase the number of civil defense volunteers and police personnel in the area.
“The shopkeeper can only manage people in stores, almost no police on the market.
If people see the police, they wear their masks.
The authorities need to ensure that the right norms are followed,” he added.
