Coimbatore: Member of the Coimbatore Jewelry Manufacturers Association has urged the state government and civil society to develop infrastructure in all commercial areas in the city, including in the Big Bazaar Street and King Street, and make them friendly customers to help them bounce back to business.
They say customers avoid commercial places such as the Big Bazaar Street and King Street, because they face parking misery.
“Customers find it difficult to park their two-wheeled and four-wheeled wheels.
We are affected because of the lack of parking facilities keeping customers,” one member of the Association, who did not want to be named, told TII.
According to B Muthuvenkatram, the President, the Association of Coimbatore Jewelry Manufacturers, the district produces more than 200 kg of gold ornaments a day, providing employment for 45,000 goldsmiths and 20,000 others.
“There are 5,000 wholesalers and 600 retail traders in this district.
They face losses due to the situation of the pandemic and other factors.
City Corporation and state government must advance to help them more businesses by facilitating customer movements,” he said.
Muthuvenkatram said the land available on the TK market must be used to build commercial and multi-level complex parking facilities.
“It is important to consult with traders while the authorities develop new infrastructure for the commercial area.”
