Traffic police identified 6.6K vehicles left behind, sentenced 4,790 owners so far

Nagpur: Traffic Police have drives to identify vehicles left throughout the city and punish their owners.
So far, traffic police from 10 zones have sentenced 4,790 vehicles left behind by Section 122 of motor vehicle laws and 283 of the Criminal Code.
During the survey, police personnel were seen as many as 6,655 vehicles parked or left throughout the city since many years.
This step starts after JT CP Aswati Dorje and DCP (traffic) Awad’s nest pays attention to many vehicles left during their rounds.
Even 10 traffic police zones received many complaints about abandoned vehicles.
DCP then swung in action and instructed his officer to do a special drive.
The highest number was found in the Indora zone where more than 1,903 vehicles were found parked outside the home or along the busy road.
The Kampee traffic zone is the next with 1,332 vehicles while the MIDC zone has 1,328.
Even in the old city area, under the cotton market zone, the police found 529 vehicles.
Before collecting punishment, the police first made the announcement making the owner remove their vehicle.
A senior police officer from the traffic department said that people left their vehicle due to lack of knowledge about how to scrap.
Most of the owners failed to preserve their vehicle documents.
“They didn’t even approach the regional transportation offices looking for permission to memo their vehicles,” he said.
The vehicle must first deregistered at RTO.
All tax arrears must be cleaned and the owner must get a certificate without contributions.
However, the new scrappage policy will provide exceptions to vehicle owners.
Traffic experts and attorney for the Anjan Chatterjee High Court said the new scrappage policy had not been implemented.
“Once applicable, the tax department will be excluded.
The document will also be easier.
This new policy will have the provisions to submit the vehicle to the registered trash,” Chatterjee said.
Scrapyard will pay the price for the vehicle and issue a certificate (also traded) with discounts / discounts can be available on new purchases, he added.
