New Delhi: Indian train income from transportation transportation has increased 24% during the current financial year compared to the same period last year and was all set to reach the end of March.
Until Wednesday, the revenue of the transport movement approached Rs 1.12 Lakh Crore and went with a total trend of revenue from this segment tend to touch 1.4 lakh crore rs in March.
During 2020-21, the total income of the shipping movement was Rs 1.17 lakh crore.
“We hope to end the year that register around 25% increase in income and total movement of shipping by train likely around 1,300 million tons,” said a source.
The increase in shipping revenue is very important for trains because this cross subsidizes the passenger movement, which is a loss for national transporters.
In recent years, trains have put more focus on shipping movements to increase their income and to regain traditional goods share that has shifted to the road transportation sector.
It has taken a number of steps including to provide concessions and discounts to make the train transport movement more attractive.
Recently, the UNION Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched “Gati Shakti” each with a capacity of 2.5 tons, which will help farmers and small traders to send their consignment.
The minister said this would also reduce logistics costs and would benefit small players.
