Madurai: The Madurai train division has suspended 16 trains from and for Rameswaram for two months until mid-September to facilitate engineering work on a 107-year-old Pamban Bridge.
While most of these trains will end up and starting from Mandapam, some will be operated only until Ramanathapuram.
Railroad officials clarify that there are no serious problems on the bridge.
The service will continue on the bridge on September 15 after repairing the corrosive part of the bridge.
