Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar train station has received the ‘Eat Right Station’ certificate to provide good and nutritated food to passengers.
The certificate was submitted to Khurda Road Division Railway Manager RinkSh Roy by the Food Security Commissioner Yamini Sarangi on Thursday.
This certificate is given to the station after the conclusion of the audit carried out by the Indian Food Security Authority and the Indian Standard (FSSAI) of Empaneled Third Party Agency.
With a scale of 1 to 5, Bhubaneswar station with 29 food stalls with four-star rating.
“4-star rating show exemplary efforts carried out by train authorities at this station ensure that safe and hygienic food is available for train passengers.
All catering kiosks at the Bhubaneswar train station are provided with food license certificates.
Vendors also have a medical fitness certificate , “The official East Coast Railway (ECOR) statement said.
Right eating station certification is part of the ‘Indian right eating’ movement.
This is an effort made by FSSAI to change the food system in India with the aim of ensuring safe, healthy and sustainable food for all Indians.
Indian right eat adopts regulatory settings, capacity building, collaborative and empowerment in ensuring that foods available are suitable for people and for the planet, ecor sources said.
According to the parameter, a maximum of 40 marks of 100 can be provided for safe food, 25 for healthy food, 10 for sustainable food and 25 signs to build awareness.
Khurda Road DRM said the certification would make them more responsible for maintaining hygienic quality standards and food for passengers in the future.
“Our next effort is to enter the castle, cuttack and other important stations of the division in the EAT Right Station category,” said Roy while attending the event at City Station on Thursday.
Bhubaneswar train station is the sixth train station on the Indian train to get a certificate after Chandigarh, Anand Vihar terminal, Terminus Chhatrapati Shivaji, Mumbai Central and Vadodara train station.
