New Delhi: Taking a signal from the highway sector where private players built roads and gathering tolls to restore their investment after getting land from the government, the train ministry will soon appear with a policy to allow private players to put the train line and generate train operating income on these lines.
The source said the Ashwini Vaishnaw UNI train minister proposed the plan to the minister’s group on infrastructure on Tuesday.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari led a meeting where problems related to environmental permits, land availability and land transfer for infrastructure projects were discussed.
Officials said Vaishnaw said the ministry would come with the payment policy they set to transfer land to other departments to build infrastructure.
According to an official statement, Vaishnaw talks about the importance of new technology and financial model for increasing train infrastructure and also offers to work in close coordination with highways on similar lines.
“He added that he wanted to examine the eligibility to work on a plan to put the train line along the highway on the ground that had been obtained to make a project worthy,” said his broadcast.
Toi has known that the Ministry of Environment officials, while rejecting the accusation of delaying environmental and forest licenses, marking how the department concerned did not install complete details to seek the approval.
