Transway Choke Point Fear for Underpass

Gurgaon: Walking and commuter safety experts have raised concerns about the reduction of traffic mobility and the possibility of obstacles near Shankar Chowk after the Ambience Mall flyover was discarded to the public, which was expected to occur on August 25.
Underpass is set to open on August 15, but the deadline is extended because the rain delays the work of finishing on the project.
To go to the underpass, commuting must take a way out No.
18, which is located near the Airtel and Shankar Chowk office.
The entry for underpasses will be near the HIL’s office gate on the Gurgaon-Delhi side, while the exit will be near the Ambience Mall on the Delhi-Gurgaon side.
If someone skips the exit No.
18, there is no other route to the underpass and commuting must go until Rajokri in Delhi for Round U, beat the purpose of the underpass.
Experts say the service path exits No.
18 can turn into obstacles as traffic from the side of the airtle office and that in terms of Delhi-Gurgaon from the toll road will join the track.
There seems to be no traffic mobility planning or installation of signage on stretching to educate commuters, they said.
The project contractor plans to install signage only in the mouth of the underpass and at the Shankar Chowk intersection.
“Traffic on the freeway will join traffic on the service track, making this point into a black spot.
There needs to be a signboard that informs express traffic to take a way out if they want to turn back.
Those who use the service path also need to be informed To stay left and comply with a certain speed limit because the point of combining traffic in front, “said Sawah Ram, a city-based urban transportation expert, said.
“There is a high chance of many missing commuters out No.
18.
If they miss it, some wrong drivers might even bring towards driving the wrong side or illegal rounds to avoid going to Rajokri,” said Aniket Singh, a daily commuter).
When approached, the contractor said they were still planning signage.
“We are still reviewing the mobility pattern when exit.
Kumar.
Nhai, meanwhile, claiming that signage installation will be discussed with contractors to avoid confusion.
“Commuting has taken a way out no.
18 for a round of u in front, under the flyover in Shankar Chowk.
So, we don’t see big changes in the mobility pattern.
We will close this round to avoid some conflict points and ensure that the commuter uses Underpass instead.
There will be enough signage, “said a senior Nhai official to Ti.
There is a security risk on the Delhi-Gurgaon side also because the traffic coming out of the underpass will join high-speed vehicles coming from the Delhi side, experts said.
“There should be restrictions and path steps to reduce speed to avoid traffic conflicts,” RAM said.
Traffic police, meanwhile, are in wait-and-watch mode.
“We will use additional staff and issue directions to NHAI after reviewing traffic mobility after underpass becomes functional,” said an officer.
