Coimbatore: State Highway Department, along with environmental lovers, transplants 15-year-old sun trees from selected sites to build ukkadam flyovers in Karumbatai on Vellalore on Friday.
According to K Syed’s environmental experts, involved in the transplant work, the site for the flyover has five trees – deposits, poovarasam, ied vaka, vadamadakki and mango trees.
“As a tree, appreciated for the efficacy of their medicine, it remains an obstacle for construction work, officials decided to move it.
On Friday, we have planted in vellalore.
We have decided to transplant another tree on Saturday.
Mango trees will be transplanted in Karumbatigai and the rest at the University of Bharathiyar, “he added.
