Trees cut down because of ‘MLA’s house’, the authority claims unconscious

Bhubaneswar: At least 50 old trees, planted in the early years of the capital city, have been cut in the MLA colony in the Unit-IV area which is suspected to make the way for multi-bound buildings for legislators.
While locals say there are many valuable trees over 60-70 years, the government authorities say they are not aware of every tree that is cut down in the region.
Acharya, an Octogenarian who lives in the Unit-IV region, “Government colonies in this area have many old and valuable trees such as Debdaru, Banyan, Peepal, Jamun, Mango and Jackfruit.

Because the thick green cover of this area feels cold even in the summer.
The government must plan highriss for the legislator to keep green plants as intact.

The trip also needs to be given planting 10 times the number of trees that will be cut down.
Josabanta Barha’s good forest officer said, “according to the rules, the construction agency must take permission before cutting the tree.
But we do not know any agent involved in cutting trees in the area.” The existing MLA colony, where the building will appear after destroying 42 Quarter, fall under the Department of General Administration.
