Trichy: The castle police in Trichy has arrested a man for kidnapping a three-year-old girl from roadside residents.
Police said R Pandian aka Pandiajaj, 47, from Woraiyur kidnapped a girl when she was, her father and mother were sleeping in Peron near the Chathiram bus stand.
Police Inspector C Dhayalan said the father of the daughter and the defendant was known.
Both are involved in doing part time work.
The inspector said Pandian had tried to persuade the girl’s father to give her a child to involve it in pleading near the central bus stand.
When the father refused, Pandian kidnapped the girl.
The police received complaints on Sunday afternoon after which they launched an investigation and traced Pandian.
He pleaded at the central bus stand carrying the child.
Helpline Sevai Childline and the police save the child.
Pandian is married and has two children.
“He kidnapped the child because of begging.
He was not involved in cases of child abduction before,” said the inspector.
The man was ordered under the IPC and Juvenile Justice Law (maintenance and protection).
He was returned in judicial custody.
