Trichy: Police on Monday arrested three people, including two nine and 14-year-old boys, in connection with the murder of S Boominathan, a special sub-inspector of Trichy rural police.
One of the defendants was identified as P Manikanda, 19, who came from the Thanjavur district.
Children underage, who are school students, ice hail from the Puduktandai district.
In a press statement, the police said the interrogation with the defendant was underway.
Boominathan, which was attached to the Navalpattu police station Rural Police Trichy, was hacked to death by goat thieves who fled with stolen goats on two-wheeled vehicles early on Sunday.
Boominathan chased them in two-wheeled vehicles and arrested them near the train gate in Mani Vijay Nagar in Pallahupatti in the Pudukkottai district.
