Trichy: Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) attached to the Navalpattu police station in Trichy was hacked to death by two men who were hanging out with goats after a bicycle pursuit of 10 km to borders Pulajottai on the early days of Sunday.
Boominathan, 50, who was on duty patrol, even caught the duo, but both of them suddenly attacked him with sharp weapons made him die.
Boominathan, along with another police Chithiraivelu, was on duty patrol at 2 am when he saw two men with a goat.
Suspecting them was a goat thief, he tried to intercept them, but they fled.
Boominathan chased them in his bicycle while his colleagues followed two-wheeled vehicles.

When they approached Palatupatti village near the Kalamavur train gate in the Pudukottai district, the pig caught both because the subway filled with rainwater was found blocked with stones.

This SSI survived by his wife B Kavitha, 45, and Son B Kugan, 21.

His body was handed over to his family after doing postmortem in Mgmgh and was buried in the cemetery in Cholamadevi with a full police award.
