Coimbatore: The wing of the National Highway Department of the State Highway has accelerated the construction of two flyovers in the city.
The wing plan to complete the tastes of Taste Trichy Road in December and open Kavundampalayam flyover to the public at the next Pongal Festival.
“The pandemic reached the steps of construction.
We competed against the time to redeem the delay,” said an official to the toi.
Construction of the Blanket Jalan Trichy 3.15km, which is expected to facilitate traffic congestion on Jalan Trichy and Jalan Metupalayam, starting in 2019.
The union government has been allocated Rs 232 Crore for work.
The structure is 17.2 meters wide, four lanes, starting from the stock building area near Ramanathapuram and ends in Rainbow in Trichy Road.
It has 119 spans.
City Corporation must remove encroachment in Sungam to allow construction.
Officials agreed to remove them after two weeks.
“We have started installing lights on the wall of the thumbs up.
The work will be completed in December,” said government officials had given Rs 60 Crore to build a blanket 1.2 km, 17.2 meters, which had 28 spans.
National highway officials have approached the government for funds to install lights.
The source said that elevated work will be completed in January.
The 670 meter blanket construction at the GOUNDER MILLS (GN Mills) was delayed after a pole failed twice.
After the third attempt, construction began on Jalan Mettupalayam at Junction Mills Gounder last January.
The government has given RS 30 Crore for this project.
“It will take at least nine months to complete the work,” the official said.
Official expect to complete the 1.4km flyover in PeriyaCenickepalayam in May.
The Union Government has given RS 88 Crore for this project.
