Kolkata: In another photo shoot in a luxury area on the northern suburbs of the city, a leader of the Trinamool Congress was full of bullets by a group of criminals on a bicycle in Birati in Dum North Night on Wednesday night.
The panas pumped at least five bullets to Subhrojit Dutta (40), killed him in that place, police said.
The attack took place around 10:50 a.m.
on Wednesday when Dutta, a resident of the Shibachal and Trinamool Committee members Birati No 18 at Municipality North Dum Dum, returned from the party office in Birati’s Banik.
“The five armed criminals came on two motorbikes, firing them indiscriminately from the empty lane and escape along Belgharia Expressway,” said a local trader.
At hearing shots, the locals rushed to the place and took the Dutta to Dum North Dum City Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The police suspect that Supari’s killer may have been engaged to shoot leaders.
A cid team of five members visited the crime scene on Thursday afternoon.
Manoj Kr Verma, Commissioner of Police Barrackpore Commissioner, who also visited the place, said five bullets were found in the Dutta’s body.
According to local sources, Dutta is associated with building materials that supply business in partnership.
His family involved his former business partner, Babulal Singh.
“Babulal borrowed Rs 4 lakh from my child.
But he was involved with criminal activities.
Then, my son left a partnership and demanded his money back.
That’s why Babalal hatched the conspiracy to kill my child,” said Mother Rekha Dutta.
The source, however, said Babulal, who was previously a TMC activist, was seriously injured after being beaten by local TMC supporters in more Banik on Wednesday afternoon, hours before the dutta murder.
North Dum Dum MLA and State Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said: “There are no factions or any rival groups in Trinamool in Dum North Dum.
Parton supported by BJP deliberately killed the Dutta to release the terrorist in a peaceful region.” BJP Archana Majumdar leader said: “The murder is a fall in competition between two Trinamool groups for real estate syndicates.”
