Mumbai: Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Souravai Ganguly on Monday confirmed that the upcoming edition of Trophy Ranji will be staged according to the plan.
Covid-19 cases that increased in the country have caused speculation about the fate of the tournament, but Ganguly confirmed that the trophy Ranji would run according to plan.
“Yes, the trophy of Ranji will continue as planned,” Ganguly said to Ani.
Ranji Trophy is scheduled to be played from January 13 to March 20, 2022.
Kolkata will host a neutral group stage match and KO.
Previously on that day, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CABS) announced that the local division local tournament, second division, and district, will be postponed after certain players tested positive Covid-19.
The CAB also announced that the Emergency Apex Board had been held to make necessary decisions and review the current Covid situation.
