New Delhi: MP Balurghat Sukanta Majumdar was on Monday appointed West Bengal Bengal President, replacing Dilip Ghosh who had increased as the party’s national vice president.
Majumdar’s appointment was significant as it happened when the party was pitted in a difficult battle against CM Mamata Banerjee who was fighting for Bypolls assembly from Bhabanipur and also in the midst of internal disputes behind MP Party Babul Supriyo joining TMC.
In other important developments, Head of BJP J P Nadda appointed Babyrani Maurya as a national representative.
He was the Governor of Uttarakhand and resigned recently.
Both Ghosh and Maurya are OBC and their appointment is seen as part of BJP’s sustainable outreach to the community who has the largest chunks of voters in the country.
Strangely, senior leaders such as Prakash Javadekar and Ravi Shankar Prasad, who have been imposed as a cabinet minister in Rejig recently, has not yet managed to organizations, different from speculation to conduct a round since then.
Ghosh ownership will last until the end of next year and the exit of his premature comes after a report of internal differences in the state unit.
Supriyo also on the dagger drawn with Ghosh and his resignation from the party was also considered the same fall.
Supriyo immediately said he did not want to continue the party under the leadership of Ghosh.
