BENGALURU: Five people sustained burn injuries after a truck carrying bituminous material caught fire inside Kempegowda International Airport (KIA)in Bengaluru on Sunday morning.
According to sources from KIA, the incident took place around 9am on Sunday morning.
The men from Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) swung into action to douse the fire.
Fire tenders from Devanahalli station of Fire and Emergency Services joined the ARFF team to douse the fire.
Two gas cylinders used to heat bitumen exploded during the fire.
As the truck was carrying combustible substances, the fire fighters took around 30 minutes to douse it completely.
According to sources, the truck was carrying bituminous material inside near the airport watch tower.
Two of the injured people were treated as outpatients in a nearby hospital, while three others were admitted for treatment.
