Shaken by visuals from submerged villages, NGOs began sending relief materials, including raw food grains, household goods, equipment, candles and sanitation items to affected areas.
On Saturday, donors noticed the call of the Juma Masjid Trust and became a human foundation, and sent five trucks of relief materials.
“The vehicle reaches their destination after a difficult four hour trip.
More trucks will be sent immediately,” said Shuab Khatib, Trust Chairman.
One vehicle loaded with 160 bags of food granules donated by certain Rafiqbhai.
Each bag weighs 25 kg.
Residents of Dongri, Nagpas and Mohammed Ali Road have mobilized support for Raigad-Chiplun.
Many locals have roots in Konkan.
“We are happy that even in the middle of a covid pandemic, Mumbaikars contributed generously.
We have arranged 750 liters of milk, 2,000 liters of drinking water, food grains, clothing, medicines and equipment.

“Pravin Mahad sent SOS to say the area was immersed below 15-20 FT Air.
He was setting up a kitchen to provide food to basic people and rations.
We have invited people and parish to donate essential foods and candles,” said FR Nigel.
