Trying to order Sou tickets, Constable SRP loses RS 3L in online fraud

Vadodara / Bharuch: The desire of his grandson to visit the statue of Unity (Sou) proved to be too expensive for the police force (SRP) police who lost Rs 3.05 Lakh to online fraudsters.
Damor Dhirabhai, which was posted on SRP Group 18 in Kevadia, registered a violation of unknown cheat at the Kevadia police station.
According to the police, Damor Tirthraj’s grandmother came to Kevadia on Sunday and expressed her desire to see the sou.
Damor gave him his cellphone and asked him to order tickets online.
Tirthraj opens YouTube and looks for sou payments after several ads appear.
He clicked on one of them and then called the telephone number mentioned in the ad.
Phone numbers are West Bengal and people at the other end are speaking in Hindi.
“The person asked Tirthraj to download any table application and then requested the application code.
He then asked the victim to start a new account on the PE cellphone.
He asked for a tourist name, SBI card number, date of card validity and CVV,” the police said.
He also asked OTP and within minutes, Rs 1.58 lakh was withdrawn from a Damor account.
When Damor got an SMS, he knew that he had been cheated.
When he tried to call the telephone number mentioned in the ad, both were turned off.
Tirthraj is looking for sou’s payment on YouTube and gets a new telephone number.
When he called one of the numbers, the person at the other end said that they had debated Rs 1.58 lakh because of an error and wanted to deposit back to the Damor account.
Damor again gave the debit card number and other bank account details and this time he lost Rs 1.47 lakh.
“We tried to track fraudsters with the help of cellphone numbers and bank accounts where the money was transferred,” said Vani Dudhat, Deputy Supervisor, Kevadia.
