Mumbai: Tulsi Lake, who supplied drinking water to Mumbai, became the first of this rainy season to start overflowing at 11am on Friday.
Tulsi, the smallest lake, but only supply 1% of water for Mumbai’s daily needs.
Last year, it had begun to overflow on July 28.
Tulsi is one of two lakes located at the Mumbai limit.
The other is Vihar.
The two lakes are located in Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
Civil officials said that when Tulsi Lake overflowed, the water entered Vihar Lake.
On Friday, the stock of water in seven lakes supplies water to Mumbai touching 2.49 latris MN liters or 17% of the shares needed.
