Istanbul: The President of Turkey said the country will talk to the Taliban about Turkish efforts to operate and secure the airport in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul.
Speaking after Eid prayer Ouch in North Cyprus, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan acknowledged that the Islamic group Hardline had several “discomfort” of the plan proposed by Turkey for Hamid Karzai International Airport.
“This process will also be discussed with the Taliban,” he said, adding that the group had previously negotiated with the United States and “must hold this talk much more comfortable with Turkey.” “I give the possibility that we will discuss this problem with them well and have an agreement because Turkey does not have the opponent’s side of their beliefs,” Erdogan said.
He emphasized that Turkey always stood with Afghanistan, said “the power of the Empire” had existed for decades, including in the past 20 years – a real reference for the spread of the US closed.
Erdogan’s comments followed the Taliban commemoration last week that Turkey had to attract his troops from Afghanistan, along with other foreign forces.
The group called the Turkish airport proposal “despicable.” On Monday, Erdogan called for the Taliban to end “the biological work ‘of the land” and said the attitude of the Taliban in Afghanistan was not in accordance with other Muslims.
Taliban have taken strategic border posts and encouraged to get the area in recent weeks, directed tens of thousands of Afghans to escape from their homes.
Many try to cross into Turkey, with more than 1,450 migrants found by the authorities in the province of East Van.
Government forces have regained several posts and focused their resources on the strategic points and provincial centers.
Turkey has negotiated with the US for proposals to operate and secure the airport.
Erdogan reiterated that Turkey would do it only if certain conditions were fulfilled and said Washington had asked Turkey to stay at.
“First, America will stand with us at the point of diplomacy and diplomatic relations,” he said.
Other conditions are logistical and financial support.
The agreement on the protection of the airport has become increasingly urgent of the final withdrawal of 2,500-3,500 US troops and 76,000 alliy nato soldiers approaching conclusions.
Turkey NATO members have more than 500 troops in Afghanistan and have played an important role at the airport but the troops have not served in combat missions.
Turkish-American relations have been rocky for the past few years during a number of problems, including Turkish human rights issues, the purchase of ankara from the Russian-made missile system, Washington’s support from the Turkish Syrian Kurds group considers terrorists, and a sustainable US residency of a Turkish Muslim cleric Accusing masterminding a bleeding coup.
Erdogan spoke during a two-day visit to Cyprus Breakaway North for a celebration to mark the 47th anniversary of the Turkish invasion which divided the island along the ethnic line.
