Ankara: A Turkish journalist, who is critical of the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and has lived in exile in Germany, was injured after being attacked outside his home by three people who reportedly warned him to stop writing.
Erk Acarer, a columnist for the Turkish Independent Birgun newspaper, said in a video posted on Twitter that the attack took place at the end of Wednesday on his home page outside Berlin.
He sustained some swelling on his head and stored in a hospital for several hours for observation.
Police Berlin confirmed the attack, said the Acarer was attacked by several people on Wednesday night in the Rudow district.
In a video posted on Twitter, Acarer said that one of the attackers warned him in Turkey: “You will not write.” Previously, the journalist posted a photo of himself, said he was attacked “with boxing and knife.” “I know the attackers.
I will never give up on fascism,” Acharer wrote.
Acharer was among a group of journalists who were sued for reporting the funeral of a Turkish intelligence officer who was killed in Libya and quietly buried.
Five of the journalists were punished for violating Turkish intelligence law and disclosing confidential information.
The case against the Acarer continued.
