Istanbul: Militant Kurdish launched a mortar attack on the Turkish military base in North Iraq on Thursday, injuring a Turkish soldier who later died at the hospital, said the Turkish defense ministry.
The statement said Turkish forces immediately replied to those who carry out attacks and three Kurdistan party militants (PKK) neutralized, the term commonly used to be killed.
PKK launched a rebellion in Southeast Turkey in 1984 where more than 40,000 people have been killed.
It was appointed as a terrorist group by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
Turkey is currently carrying out operations that target militants in northern Iraq, where their main base is located.
