Coimbatory: Tusker Prisoners in Motions Scratch Assistant Mahout (Cavady) to Die near the Kozhikamuthi elephant camp on Sunday, when he tried to chain the front leg of the animal while taking him to the grazing area in the reserve forest.
A forest officer identified the deceased when V Arumugam was 45 years old, a resident of Kozhikamuthi tribe settlement.
He said it was Tusker named Ashok who attacked Arumugam.
12 years old, Tusker was taken to Kozhikamuthi Elephant Camp near the TopSlip in Tiger Reserve Animalai eight years ago from Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur in Chennai after it attacked the staff there.
“Arumugam and Tusker have developed a good relationship with each other for years and he is a person who feeds elephants and releases him to graze in the Forest Reserve for the past eight years.

On Sunday morning, he said, Arumugam feeded Tusker and tried to chain his front foot to take him out to the nearest Reserve nearby.
