Udhagamandalam: Tusker was injured, who was arrested in the Gudalur Forest Division in Nilgiris on June 16 and shifted to Kraal in Abhiyaranyam at the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) the following day, died on Friday night without responding to treatment.
It was the first wild elephant captured in the state without darting.
According to him for Ch Padma, Deputy Director, MTR-Core Area, Tusker with a deep injury in the rear area was being treated in Kraal in Abhayaranyan.
“The condition of animals becomes critical on Friday morning with high temperatures and increasing swollen on both legs behind.” Other officials said while the wound had recovered and was partially dried during treatment, Tusker, which was around 32 years old, weak and still weakened throughout the course.
The Tusker died at 7:30 a.m.
on Friday.
“The deep injury caused by a dominant Tusker, who was too close to anal area, was always fatal for young elephants,” Padma said.
