Tussle Over Alliance with BJP, PMK to Echo at AIDMK Meet

Chennai: Even when Aidmk’s leadership stressed that the BJP inclusive alliance was forged for assembly selection would continue and that no doubt, the cross section of party workers expressed disappointment.
The peak of the inclusion of BJP and PMK is expected to echo at the district secretary meeting and the head of the head office office is held at HQ Aiadmk on Friday night.
Local agency polls are now a new agenda.
The party lost the third term in a row with only 3% of the vote and more than 25 seats with less sound than Lakh in all.
One third of the cabinet members Edappadi K Palaniswami could not maintain their seats.
They include seniors like D Jayakumar (Royapuram), C Ve Shanmugam (Villupuram) and K C Veeramani (Jiolar), who lost in the dominant minority chair.
Shanmugam, a member of the AIADMK Steering Committee, stirred a debate stating that the defeat of the AIDMK election was due to the inclusion of BJP and PMK in alliances and erosion produced from loyal basis and Dalit.
This view was delivered to the party command in front of the poll by several party workers, the source was confirmed.
Several senior leaders against the tie-up with BJP, citing such attitudes were taken by former CM J Jayalalithaa in the past.
“Amma (Jayalalithaa) is very clear that we cannot lose a minority and SC / ST sound.
Shanmugam’s view is explained to leadership long before by many of us.
AIDMK will form a government now but for the alliance,” said a senior official.
A senior leader has made futile efforts to win on leadership not to expand exclusive reservations for Vanniyars (10% quota) because “it will be hostile to the influential MBC, which is numerically greater than Vannyar in the state”.
Armed with intelligence reports on the ‘popularity’ of Vanniyars in 13 districts, leadership decided to bind PMK.
On Wednesday, the coordinator of the AIADMK O Panneerselvam quickly tweeted that AIADMK has full confidence in BJP and PM Modi.
A few hours later, a shared statement emerged from EPS and OP, was seen as an effort to hamper the ruffled feathers.
“To protect the interests of the party, the BJP patronage is very important especially when we are in the opposition.
We have no choice but to continue our loyalty to BJP during the party to the power in the center,” said a senior leader.
