Vadodara: In an effort to train young children for a shorter game version, The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) is for the first time arranging its own T20 tournament in the city.
Named T20 Challenge, the tournament held along with TCM Sports Management Private Ltd, starts on Friday.
BCA officials said that the tournament had been planned to prepare young people for the T20 format and in turn for the famous Indian Premier League (IPL).
“The main idea is to explore new talents and evaluate how they can appear in a match situation.
These matches will give them the opportunity to show off their talents,” BCA official said.
Nearly 100 young people participated in the tournament where a total of 33 matches will be played in the alembic of the land for the next few days.
The six participating is gladiators, challengers, titans, soldiers, warriors and stallions.
Every team plays two matches every day.
“We follow all Covid protocols must ensure the security of the players and match officials.
The match is being channeled at FanCode.com where cricket lovers can watch direct action,” added BCA officials.
Players who file a show that should be considered will be given the opportunity in matches outside the city and in other formats of the game.
BCA Management said that the tournament will be an annual affair that will act as a line of feeders to provide talented crickets for senior teams.
BCA has obtained RS 20 lakh from sponsors and money will be used for cricket development.
