Twitter Inc.
said on Monday to temporarily suspend the Representative of the Republic of US Marjorie Taylor Greene for tweets that violated social media information policies in Covid-19.
Greene posted that Coronavirus is not harmful to non-obese people under 65 years, and that organizations do not force “non-FDA” approved vaccines or masks.
This tweet has been labeled as “misleading” by the platform.
The United States uses a vaccine created by Pfizer Inc., Moderna Inc.
and Johnson & Johnson under the authorization of the Emergency Use of Food and Drug Administration.
None of these vaccines was fully approved but many studies have proven their efficacy.
US President Joe Biden has called on social media companies to take action on the wrong information vaccine.
“We take enforcement actions on the @MTGreenee account for twitter rules violations, especially the information policy that misleads Covid-19,” Twitter spokesman said in an email statement.
Greene account will remain locked for 12 hours, according to Twitter.
In a video statement on Facebook Live, Greene admitted that he had been suspended while from the platform and blamed the Biden government to try to control free speeches.
“Remember, last week when our press secretary said the White House worked to stop the deployment (wrong information) because they wanted to be careful and they wanted to control the information distributed about Covid-19 and vaccines, Isn’t it about?” Greene said.
Republican representatives have been burned before comments about pandemic.
In June he apologized after comparing the requirements and vaccination of Covid-19 mask to the Holocaust which killed 6 million Jews.
In January, Twitter locked a Greene account after he argued with a state election official on charges of voter fraud.
