Two Apple suppliers in India Get manufacturing incentives

Two Apple suppliers in India – Foxconn and Wistron – have been chosen to receive incentives based on incentive plans (pli) related production, said a report by 9to5mac.
The two companies also qualify for cashback offers if they help improve manufacturing in India.
Incentives will most likely be used for the production of iPad in this country.
The PLI scheme has been approved by the government for tablets and laptops in February this year.
This is intended to appreciate companies with incentives, depending on the quantity of production units.
Apple has been looking to get financial incentives from India since 2016 for the iPhone, which was largely rejected by the government at that time after the company continued its plan to assemble the iPhone SE.
Apple does get permission to import the iPhone component in this country without having to pay import duties.
The technology giant is looking to reduce its dependence on China for assembling its products and spread more in other countries, India is an important one.
Apart from Foxconn and Wistron, India chose Dell and Flex Ltd to make and increase exports of laptops, tablets and PCs.
Manufacturers will “get cash-back 1% to 4% of the additional sales of local-made goods for four years, with 2019-2020 as the basic year”, according to reports by Reuters.
Apple suppliers may not get incentives for the iPhone, but get green signals from the government on tablets and laptops that are good for technology giants.
