Two arrested for ‘riots’ after denying grazing rights

Jammu: Jammu & Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested two people because of their alleged involvement in ‘riots’ on August 10 in the Ladda Dhar forest area in the Raw District, where at least 12 people from the Gujjar Nomaden community were injured.
A police spokesman said that complaints were received from several families Guggar at the Chanderkot police station, stating that they were attacked by around 100 people who injured their livestock and also attacked them.
Police spokesman said that in accordance with the complainants mostly unknown attackers but 21 of them had been identified.
During the investigation, the police arrested two main charges, namely Mohammad Hussain and Abdul Rashid, both Kanachak residents.
The police further said that the problem related to the right pastoral grassland and this problem was resolved by the district government in collaboration with the Ministry of Forestry.
