Mangaluru: Sleuth CCB has captured two people in connection with theft reported in 13 temples and Daivasanas and three thefts of three theft houses at the city limits and restored gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 28.4 lakh.
The defendant was Naga Naika, 55, from Chikkamagaluru and Maruthi CV, 33, from Davanagere.
On November 10, a resident of Ashok Nagar locked his house and left for Thanjavur with respect to his daughter’s marriage.
Upon returning at 7 am on November 12, he realized that the thief had robbed gold worth 6.8 lakh from home.
Registered cases and CCB police started their investigations.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said on Thursday that Naga Naika was accused of several similar cases reported in Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga Regency.
In Mangaluru, he was involved in almost 16 cases reported between 2018 and 2021.
Police had restored 406 grams of gold ornaments worth RS 18 lakh and 16 kg silver ornaments worth Rs 10.4 lakh.
The property was stolen recovered from a jewelry store in Davangere, from Naga Naika’s house and from a shop owned by Maruthi in Channagiri.
Naika will travel from the core by bus to Mangaluru and stay at the Stands or Maidans bus.
During the day he will keep watches at home, temples and Daivasanas and at night he will rob them.
He targets small temples that do not have security.
