Patna: The Bihar Paralympic Committee on Saturday regulates the function to approve warm senders to sportsmen and officials who will participate in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 scheduled from August 25 to September 6.
Two sportsmen from Bihar – Sharad Kumar and Pramod Bhagat – will participate in Tokyo Paralympics.
As part of the Covid-19 protocol, the two players are under quarantine on Saturdays and they participate in the function virtually.
Sharad, which comes from Muzaffarpur, will represent the country in a men’s high jump in the T-42 category.
Pramod, which from Vaishlai, will participate in badminton in the SL-3 category.
The founding member of the Indian Paralympics and Bihar Committee and former State Commissioners for people with disabilities, Shivajee Kumar will represent as Indian officials at the event.
“This is a proud moment for Bihar that our two sportsmen, who have number one world number one in their respective categories, will represent the country.
We have expectations of gold medals from them,” Shivajee said.
The Indian team will leave for Tokyo on August 18.
Overall 54 athletes from various parts of the country will participate in Tokyo Paralympics.
