Srinagar: Two BJP members, including the son of the BJP district of Kupawara District, and two security guards were arrested for holding a false terror attack on themselves, a police officer here.
Drama, according to the police, is performed to improve their security and attract more attention from party leadership.
Those who were arrested were identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Mir, son of the President of Kupwara District BJP Mohammad Shafi, and party spokesman in Kupwara Basharat Ahmed.
“Ishfaq suffered an injury in his hand in a shooting incident that took place last week.
The conspiracy was hatched along with Kupwara spokesman BJP Basharat Ahmed,” police said.
Shafi has been placed under a suspension by the UT BJP unit.
The case was revealed after the police launched an investigation into the shooting incident.
Police said Ishfaq initially described the incident as a terrorist attack.
