Kolkata: The body of two BJP workers was found in various parts of West Bengal on Tuesday, with the Saffron party claiming that they were killed by villains protected by the powerful Trinamool Congress.
TMC, however, denied the allegations.
The police said that BJP Indrajit Sonorradhar workers were found hanging from the ceiling of the room with hands tied from behind in the building left in Khoirasol in the Birbhum district.
The deceased’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, they said.
Although the Prima Facie seems to be a murder case, an autopsy report will confirm the right cause and conditions, said a police officer.
The local BJP leaders said Sutradhar was killed by “criminals protected by TMC”.
The Sonorradhar family member said the middle-aged man was lost since Monday night, and that he had “personal hostility with several locals”.
The body of other turmeric party workers, Tapan Khatua (45), was arrested from the pool in Egra in the Medinipur Purbo District that day, said the officer.
BJP and the Khatua family blamed the powerful party for his death.
Local TMC leadership has expelled the allegations, stressed that Sonradhar was killed because of personal disputes and Khatua allegedly committed suicide.
Further investigation was underway, the officer added.
