New Delhi: Two taxi drivers were robbed and killed in the Bharat Nagar area and Anand Parbat early on Friday.
The police had arrested two men involved in the murder while the third escaped.
Investigators claimed on Saturday that the killers hired the taxi managed by the application and won the driver’s confidence before suffocating both.
According to the police, the patrol team watched the taxi parked on the roadside near Ramja in North Delhi with a man on Friday morning.
The person was declared dead by the hospital.
“There is no sign of a visible injury, but there is blood around the mouth.
The deceased was identified as Antil Yadav, 48, a Uber driver,” said a police officer.
“We suspect that the defendant was the first passenger he took in the morning.” The police found the cellphone and dead man’s wallet lost.
When the probe began, the other driver’s body was found in Bharat Nagar, killed in the same way.
His taxi was found in Gulabi Bagh.
The dead were identified as Chavvi Nath, a driver of Ola.
This case was assigned to a team led by Mukesh Kumar, Sho (Anand Parbat) and Yogender Kumar Inspector.
Shweta Chauhan, DCP (Central), said that the researchers drove through recordings of more than 70 CCTV cameras while passenger details were obtained from the aggregator taxi office in Gurgaon.
“One cellphone is used to order both taxis,” Chauhan said.
“Accused told us that taxis are easy targets and they also usually have money for them,” said an officer.
The researchers told the Toi that the main man behind the murder, Pritam, the native of Bihar, had not been traced.
Apparently, the two men rented a taxi around 1am on Friday at Kamal T-Point.
Some distance, they strangled a taxi from behind, took his cellphone and threw away the body on the path.
Then the couple drove a taxi and left him at Gulabi Bagh.
Both ordered a taxi again around 6.45 in the morning on Friday at Anand Parbat and killed the driver in an identical way.
In both cases, people took Rs 600 and the victim’s telephone.
“One of the men sitting with the driver and the other two in the back seat.
The modus operandi is for one of them to ask the driver to stop the car after going up one kilometer or more,” the officer was revealed.
“The other two strangled the driver before the trio drove to an isolated place and left the vehicle.” According to officers, the three men were drug addicts and were killed to get money for their daily improvement.
Akash works in a cellular workshop and Junaid sells chicken.
Junaid was previously charged for robbing the autorickshaw driver.
In 2020, Vikas Tomar and Devender Sharma were separately arrested for similar crimes.
Tomar has rented a taxi, killed the driver and sold a taxi.
Sharma was arrested for killing 100 people, most taxis and truck drivers, the body often fed into the crocodile.
