COIMBATORE: The rural authorities have detained two men for resisting 903 liquor bottles value $ 1.73 lakh out of a Tasmac socket at Kasigoundenpudur close Sulur per week back.
Police identified them Sampathkumar, 42 and S Maheshkumar, 31, of Kannampalayam close Sulur.
“They left a pit on the walls of Tasmac store 1836 around Kalangal — Kangeyampalayam Road in Kasigoundenpudur at Sulur around June 3 to sneak liquor bottles,” a police officer said.
Police gathered CCTV footage in the socket and started an investigation.
A team headed by Sulur inspector S Murugesan and sub-inspector Pandiyarajan detained Sampathkumar on Friday day and obtained an automobile and 241 liquor bottles .
According to his confession, authorities detained Maheshkumar on Saturday.
“Maheshkumar told me that he’d completed a string of thefts in Kangeyampalayam, Deepam Garden and Vidhya Nagar at Sulur to steal money, gold ornaments, a tv series, cellular phones and notebooks,” the officer added.
Police captured 79 liquor bottles, including Rs 72,000, three cell phones, a notebook, a tv series and a bike from Maheshkumar.
He had been remanded in judicial custody.
The Sulur authorities have filed a case under sections 380 (theft at home residence etc.,) and 457 (lurking house trespass or house breaking through the night to be able to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code.
