New Delhi: Flood Assam claimed two lives on Monday – the first death reported in the country because of the flood this year – as increased water from Brahmaputra and his children flooded 21 of 34 Assam Regency which affected more than 3.6 lakh people.
Death was reported from Barpeta and Morigaon.
According to the Disaster Management Authority Assam, from 3.6 lakh people who were flooded, 70,544 were children.
CM Himanta Buswa Sarma on Monday officials directed to divert traffic from Kaziranga NH National Park because hundreds of animals began to escape for the plateau after 70% of the park area was flooded.
