Patna: The number of aircraft operating to and from Darbhanga airport has now increased to 10 with two more flights from Monday, in accordance with the revised summer scheduled by airport authorities.
Carrier Budget Indigo has started two flights at Routes Hyderabad and Kolkata from Monday.
Maiden 6E-6923/6924 flight reached Darbhanga at 12:15 a.m.
and departed at 12:45 pm for Hyderabad, while the battle of Kolkata-Darbhanga (6E-6919) landed at 2:25 a.m.
and (6e-6921) left for Kolkata at 2.55 pm , On arrival, the new plane was given water salut.
The airline operates Airbus A320 aircraft on both routes.
Indigo is a second airline company after Spicejet who started a flight operation from Darbhanga airport under the center of the regional connectivity center – Ude Desha Aam Nagrik (RCS-Udan).
Former Civil Aviation Minister of Uni and MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy extended his service as a pilot after he flew the plane from Kolkata to Darbhanga.
Bihar IPRD and Water Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha also traveled Darbhanga on this girl flight.
Before taking off flights Kolkata-Darbhanga, Rudy and Jha launched flight services by cutting cakes at Kolkata Airport.
In a tweet, Jha said: “Come to Darbhanga on Indigo’s first flight and happy to tell that the captain is a former Uni Civil Service Minister and MP from Rajiv Pratap Rudy (SIC) advice.” During the inaugural ceremony, Rudy said, “This will be the first time in Indian history that former Indian government minister and airline captain will take his first flight.” Darbhanga airport has direct air connectivity with six cities that include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi.
Spicejet operates eight flights in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai while each on the AHMedabad route and Kolkata.
Meanwhile, 2.6 lakh passengers have traveled to and from Darbhanga airport until June 30 because flight operations were launched by Spicejet on November 8 last year.
