Gurgaon: The Union Minister for Road Transportation and Jalan Raya Nitin Gadkari is likely to put the foundation of two projects that are widely awaited immediately – a high 1.2 km at IMT Manesar and other 800m flyovers in Bilaspur Chowk.
They are expected to benefit thousands of commuters facing traffic in Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.
Gadkari has given a nod for building two flyovers in 2015, but the projects were delayed for various reasons.
Both regions have been in news for tailback and residents of the closest sectors have demanded a permanent solution for this problem.
Minister of Union and Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh, who recently held several meetings with the department concerned, said the ministry tended to free tenders for both projects a week, after the foundation stones would be placed by Gadkari.
Singh added that not only snarl traffic, some fatal accidents have also been reported in two stretches in recent years.
“I have been regularly in touch with the minister and department concerned to speed up the process, because the locals have increased this problem for several years,” he said.
Because of disputes with companies that build toll roads, however, the project was delayed, said MP further.
“I have raised the problem of a dispute with the Union Minister and said it should not affect the project,” Singh added.
He further said he had recently held a detailed meeting with the relevant officials, who told him that the tender for the two flyover projects would be waved in a week.
“While the cost of the flyover at Imt Manesar Chowk is around Rs 100 Crore, The Billaspur Chowk Flyover will cost around Rs 30 Crore.
After these projects are complete, the traffic load on this stretch will decrease mostly,” Singh added.
MP said he had told Gadkari about other issues related to the toll road, including the absence of street lights on the flyover and poor service lane.
“In this case, the Minister has issued a clue to officials to start repair work immediately after the rainy season,” he said.
Apart from Imt Manesar and Bilaspur, Flyover was also planned at Kaprwas Chowk and Bawal in REWARI on the highway.
Because of the current situation and solid traffic, the travel time between Delhi to Jaipur is about five to six hours, but once this flyover is operational, travel time between two cities will be reduced substantially and hassle free, Singh said.
